For Melissa, the personal and the professional were never separate. Her relationships, spiritual practice, family, curiosity, and the work she offers others all belong to the same life. The photographs needed to hold all of it.

Becoming, again.
Melissa and I have worked together for years, through more than one version of her life and work. I’ve photographed her family, her businesses, and the couples retreats she and Christiaan lead in Costa Rica. She is someone deeply familiar with reinvention, with letting one chapter end so another can take shape.
This session was about meeting her in one of those moments. We created a body of images that could move between the different parts of her world: coach, teacher, partner, mother, seeker, and woman. Some were intimate and personal, some more polished, but all of them needed to feel unmistakably like her.
The photographs became the visual language for her website, her offerings, her retreats, and whatever she was becoming next.
