About Us

Every photograph is a conversation with time.

Philosophy of the heart

A photograph is a strange and powerful thing. Years later, a single image can take you straight back to a particular day, a particular light, a version of yourself that no longer exists.

But a great photograph doesn’t only look backward. It can show you something about who you are right now, with a clarity that’s hard to find in the middle of living.

That relationship between time and image is what I think about. It’s why I take this work seriously.

I bring equal parts technical precision and human attention. I know faces. I know light. I know when to give direction and when to get out of the way. I read a room quickly, move through it quietly, and make people feel at ease in front of a camera.

The result is imagery that does more than document. It gives you something true to recognize yourself in, now and years from now.

The Art of Paying Attention

Lara Woolfson,
Founder

For twenty years, I’ve photographed people through all kinds of moments: celebrity weddings, biotech breakthroughs, personal milestones, and quiet, ordinary magic. I’m interested in what makes a person, a relationship, or a moment feel distinctly its own, and I bring that curiosity to everything I photograph.

Born in South Africa and shaped by years of travel, study, and artistic exploration, I bring a fine artist’s eye to my work. My photography has appeared in Martha Stewart Weddings, Boston Weddings, The Boston Globe, and The Huffington Post, and my fine art has been exhibited at Bromfield Gallery, Gallery 808, and other galleries throughout Boston.

I hold an MFA in Visual Art from Lesley University.

I believe being truly seen is one of the greatest gifts we can give each other.

Instructions for living a life: Pay attention. Be astonished. Tell about it.

Mary Oliver

Beauty is a profound illumination of presence, a stirring of the invisible in visible form and in order to receive this we need to cultivate a new style of approaching the world.

John O'Donohue

Every photograph is a certificate of presence.

Roland Barthes

To see takes time, like to have a friend takes time.
