A promise kept

Years before Colleen met Erik, her father made her a promise: if she moved with the family to Texas, one day she could come home and be married at the Crane Estate. She never forgot. So when that day finally arrived, Castle Hill wasn’t simply a beautiful place to gather. It was part of the story.

When rain swept through just before the outdoor ceremony, everyone held out hope. The planner, the venue team and I watched the sky and decided to give it fifteen more minutes. The clouds began to break, the groomsmen raced out with towels to help dry the chairs, and somehow, with everyone pitching in, the ceremony unfolded outside just as Colleen had imagined all those years ago.

The whole day carried that feeling of returning to something. Colleen got ready at her parents’ home nearby, she and Erik shared their first look at a lighthouse down the road, and after all the rain and waiting, Castle Hill gave them an extraordinary sunset. It felt like a beautiful ending to an old promise, and the beginning of something entirely new.
