During peak wedding season (June to October) we estimate 6-8 week for delivery of your wedding gallery, and 2-3 weeks for engagement images. From November to May, it takes approximately 3-4 weeks for wedding images.

Absolutely. We are fully insured through Hill and Usher and happy to provide proof of insurance to your wedding venue.

100%. We carry a backup for everything we use at your wedding: camera bodies, lenses, memory cards, flashes, light stands. And everything is insured.

You can read the details in our bios, but in short, Lara founded the Studio in 2007! Wow, we’re getting old…

We are full-time professional photographers. Lara studied photography at California State University, and received her MFA from Lesley University in visual art.

As a studio, we walk the line between sitting back and capturing the day documentary-style, and gently guiding the flow of events. Weddings are a moving breathing entity, so by nature 90% of the day is candid: we document what unfolds before us. With our backgrounds in fine art, architecture, and years and years of wedding photography, we look to create a beautiful piece of art within those candid moments; Lara, for example, is a light and composition junky, and a total romantic. We also pride ourselves on being a pretty good read on people; we like you to look like you. We enjoy working with the two of you, your personalities and personal style to suggest a spot or an action to take “let’s take a stroll over there”…so we’ll never leave you flailing.

The final images in your gallery will have been lightly edited for color and exposure, and given a little extra SN pop. The images are what we call “album ready”, so your gallery will look like what is in our website portfolio. Our style is clean and happy and stand the test of time.

Sure do! We’re based in the greater Boston area, and the Studio is in Waltham, but we’re happy to travel anywhere. The past few years we’ve been all over New England, New York, Oregon, Arizona, Texas, California, Costa Rica, South Africa, Italy and Ireland for weddings… Where will you take us next?

When you secure your wedding date, ⅓ of your collection is due at signing, with the next ⅓ at the half-way point, and the remaining ⅓ two weeks before your wedding date.

No…but yes. If you don’t have an engagement session, your wedding photos will still look awesome. But engagement shoots are great for many reasons: it puts many couples at ease. Once they realize they look good on camera, and that our style is pretty non-invasive, the wedding day jitters seem to dissipate. E-shoots also give us an opportunity to see you two in action – how are you naturally, just in everyday – we can grab a beer before or after the shoot, and solidify our friendship…after all, we ARE coming to your wedding. {blood brothers for lyfe!} It’s nice to have pics of the two of you, NOT on your wedding day. When was the last time you had a nice photo of the two of you?

Plus they’re fun. Honestly.

Approximately 100-150 images per hour of shooting on your wedding day, so on average 700-1000 images for a 7 hour wedding.

So, yes and no on this one. Have a look through our portfolio: you’ll see a wide array of styles of weddings, all captured naturally and as they really happened. We don’t stage anything, and we won’t recreate anything from someone else’s wedding. What we will do: 30 days before your wedding, we send out a worksheet asking for the names of your family and VIPs, and we’ll compose a list together of all the family photos.

We also ask you if there’s anything of significance you’d like us to know about your day: an heirloom from a grandmother, a fun family tradition, etc. These help us be on the lookout and know they’re important to you. We’ll find a natural and beautiful way to showcase these things as they really are.

Ok, we’re going to go bold on this question and say you haven’t had the right photographer. Oh, snap! Chances are you’re referring to candid photos posted to your facebook page, or an overly posed, awkward Sears session you once had? We’ve been studying art, faces, and people for many years – not all people look good from all angles, and it’s our job to spot the best you. We also pride ourselves on the relationships we build together; most clients we also call friends, and it’s that level of trust and friendship that puts you at ease so you look natural and happy.

Boudoir

Well, that’s not really a question, but we know what you’re getting at. For most people, there’s just no getting around it: the nerves are present. Knowing that, we do our best to answer all your questions up front, assist in picking out what to wear if you need it, and give you as much or as little direction as you need. We’ll show you in the back of the camera the first few frames so you can SEE why we’re ooing and ahhing.

And you have our word: the nerves fade. And every single person we’ve ever photographed for boudoir has said they had fun by the end. Pinky swear.

Your proofing gallery is ready to view 2-3 weeks after the shoot. And retouched images and some albums can be ready as quickly as 2 weeks after that with your cooperation. If you’re on deadline for a holiday, wedding gift or other present, please let us know up-front, and we’ll do our best to accommodate. Depending on the time of year, a rush fee may apply.

We’re a very body-positive studio. We find the beauty in you, literally and figuratively, and work with you, lighting and posing to create images we can both be proud of. Our editing style is clean and timeless. We work very hard to make the images beautiful in camera and on site, so little to no photoshop is necessary. That being said, we do posses the skills, that should you want additional retouching, that can be done. Your proofing gallery will be filled with images that have been toned, and given that special SN flair. Images being printed in albums have one more level of fine-tuning and are available for you to submit feedback.

That’s a very personal question that really only you can answer. We recommend bringing a variety of options ranging from covered up to as risque as you want to get. We’ll be there to make recommendations of what we think will photograph best, and we send all clients a list of looks we like and shops we dig to help get the ideas flowing. Absolutely nothing phases us – after a decade of photographing boudoir we’ve seen it all, so bring it.

Most of our boudoir sessions are done at our Studio space located on Main St. in Waltham. It’s clean, clutter-free, bright, and modern. We do offer more elaborate on-location boudoir sessions which we’d collaborate with you on, as well as “pin-up parties” if you have several people interested, or would like to plan a fun night out with a group of friends!

Fill out the contact form with any pertinent information about timing of the shoot, and whether you want in studio or on location.
